Privacy policy
What we collect
When you submit an essay, we collect the student's name, a contact email, the essay itself, and the details you choose to give us about the prompt, schools, and deadline. When you pay, Stripe processes the payment; we never see or store your card number. Our forms run on Tally and our contact form on Formspree, each of which stores what you type in order to deliver it to us.
How we use it
To read the essay, write the review, and send it to the email you gave us. We may email you once afterward to ask how the review went. We do not send marketing email, and we do not sell, rent, or share your information with anyone outside the service providers named above.
The essay
- It is read only by the reviewer assigned to it.
- It is never published, quoted, or used as an example, in whole or in part.
- It is never used to train software of any kind.
- It is deleted from our systems 30 days after the review is sent. Email us at any time to have it deleted sooner.
Students under 18
Most essays we read are written by students under 18. We ask that a parent or guardian submit the essay and provide the contact email. If you believe a minor has submitted an essay without a parent's knowledge, email us and we will delete it.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. Stripe, Tally, and Formspree may set cookies on their own pages when you use them.
Your rights
You can ask what information we hold about you, ask for a copy, or ask for it to be deleted. Email us and we will respond within seven days.
Terms of service
What you are buying
A single review of a single essay for $29.99: a copy of the draft with highlighted comments, a short summary of the largest fixes, and a graded rubric on five criteria. One review covers one draft. A later draft is a new review.
What we do not do
We do not write, rewrite, or edit the essay. We comment on it. The words remain the student's, and the student makes every change. We do not guarantee admission, a scholarship, or any particular outcome, and no one honest can.
Turnaround
The review is sent within 48 hours of the upload being received. If we miss that window, the review is free and we will refund the payment in full.
Refunds
If you ask before the reviewer has started, we refund the full amount. Once the review has been sent, the work is done and payment is final. If you believe a review fell short, email us; we would rather make it right than argue.
Free first reads
A free first read is a short verdict on whether the essay is ready, sent within five days. It is not a full review and includes no line comments or rubric. We may limit free reads during busy periods.
Ownership
The essay belongs to the student. Our comments and rubric are provided for the student's use in revising that essay and may not be resold or republished.
Limits
Our responsibility to you is limited to the amount you paid for the review. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York.
Changes
If we change these terms, the date at the top changes and the new version applies to reviews purchased after that date.
